Virgin of Beauty

by | 1975

Delicate filament,
fiber of light divine –
golden flame consumes, becomes you.

Fairest soft-white plays
upon face fond and
supple strands of ash unfold,
falling,
goldenly gleaming
upon frame small and sturdy.
And eyes, like earthen pools,
cool, green and springing,
mirror Heaven’s simple purity,
brimming with heart deep down singing.

Self-sharer,
eagerly breaking life
with another,
giver of glory, glory’s gift,
burn brightly for the
One who illumines you.
